Many drivers do not carry any bodily injury liability insurance and countless others carry minimal policy limits. Frequently, a person injured as the result of the negligence of these drivers will not be adequately compensated. Uninsured motorist coverage provided under one's own insurance policy can then be the source of further insurance to compensate that person.
